Do you know JACK....? Jack, a chef with over 30
years experience, developed a relish recipe that was such a success with
friends and family, they encouraged him to market his product. In 1992 and 1993 he entered his "garden relish" in the Cumberland County Agriculture Fair, winning consecutive blue ribbons. Once the decision to enter the specialty food business was made, Jack experimented with other products that resulted in the award winning "Hot Relish". From there he added two more products to the line, an "Old Fashioned Bread & Butter Pickle" from an old family recipe, and a variation which became the Cajun Pickle or what is called "The Pickle with the Tickle" Laurie & Jack "the pickle packers"
In 1999, they started adding jams and jellies to the line, after customers kept asking for red pepper jam. They started experimenting and came up with some interesting flavors, such as: Habanero Orange Marmalade, Tri Pepper Jam, Carrot Lemon Marmalade, Sweet Onion Horseradish, Fruits 'n Roots and Zesty Toe Jam. Yes! Toe Jam. "What is Toe Jam?" you ask. Toe Jam came about after a silly conversation while cooking. Then they got serious and came up with a recipe that was tomato based and worthy of being called Toe Jam. They took it a step further, by designing a label with a foot on it. It has been a fun addition to the product line. Everybody knows somebody they can give "Toe Jam" to.
